Plot: Anything can happen on Nim’s Island, a magical place ruled by a young girl’s imagination. It is an existence that mirrors that of her favorite literary character, Alex Rover - the world’s greatest adventurer. But Alexandra, the author of the Rover books, leads a reclusive life in the big city. When Nim’s father goes missing from their island, a twist of fate brings her together with Alexandra. Now they must draw courage from their fictional hero, Alex Rover, and find strength in one another to conquer Nim’s Island.
“Inkheart” revolves around a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud. When a villainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children’s fable kidnap the man, his daughter and her friends, both real and imaginary, must rescue him. Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire penned the bigscreen adaptation of German author Cornelia Funke’s fantasy novel, the first of a trilogy. “Inkspell” was published last fall, and “Inkdawn” will be out next year. If the movie “Inkheart” is the hit New Line Cinemas hopes it will be, (as they had hoped for another trilogy they counted on but failed miserably with, “The Golden Compass”), expect two more films starring the same cast.
Initially, “Inkheart” had a Fall 2008 release date scheduled. New Line Cinema later pushed the movie up to a March 2008 release. Now, as of March 4, 2008, “Inkheart” has been moved into TBD 2009 release date limbo.. Starring Brendan Fraser, Andy Serkis, Eliza Bennett, Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren and more
